Wedding Postponement Insurance: 3 Instances When It May Truly Be Necessary

Dustin Duncan

Congratulations on getting married. The process of planning your wedding should be an enjoyable one with limited negative experiences. There are so many details that needed to be decided that it can become overwhelming. During a meeting with your wedding planner, he or she mentions wedding cancellation or postponement insurance. You think that you don't need it because neither you or your groom-to-be are going to get cold feet, but this type of insurance covers many more instances than just being left at the alter. Read on to learn more.

1. A Death in the Family

Life is short and no one ever knows when their time is up. While the last thing you want to really think about when planning your wedding is a family member passing away it is important to realize that it could happen. What would you do if your grandmother or grandfather passed away a day or two before the wedding? Would you feel up to walking down the aisle? Probably not, and wedding postponement insurance would allow for the wedding to be rescheduled without having to deal with excessive costs.

2. A Bridal Party Member Is Deployed

People in the military can't really make long-term plans, and they know that. However, this isn't going to stop someone from being part of a bridal party when they are best friends or really close to the bride or groom. If this person gets deployed a week before your wedding, you will need to decide if you will allow the show to go on without him or her. If you can't imagine tying the knot without that person by your side, then the wedding insurance will be a blessing in disguise since it will allow you to postpone until the military service member can make it back for the big day without losing a dime.

3. The Wedding Venue Suffers Significant Damage

There are plenty of emergency situations that could keep your wedding venue from accommodating you and your big day, such as theft, fire or even bad weather. If something like this were to happen, you would be left to scramble and pull all the pieces together at the last minute, including finding a brand new venue and informing everyone of the changes. You may find that your only choice is to have your wedding in your undersized backyard, which you are incredibly unhappy about. With wedding insurance, you'll be able to reschedule or move venues without having to worry about paying an arm and a leg to ensure your big day is still just as special as you had originally planned for it to be.

All of these situations would cost you're a significant chunk of change if you did not have special events insurance. If you're getting married, it is crucial that you speak to an insurance agent (like those at Cornerstone Insurance Group) about wedding cancellation insurance and wedding postponement insurance.

Insurance is something that I carry in the hopes that it never has to be used. Along with life coverage, I also have low cost auto insurance and a health plan through my employer. The question that is on my mind is how much insurance is enough? Do I really need more, or would it be better to cultivate other assets that my loved ones can draw on if needed? If you are in the same boat, let's journey together for a while. Read on and I'll explain what I'm trying and why. Together, we can figure out when it is time to add more coverage and when enough really is enough.
